Its no secret I love the entire line of Compass Box Whisky (at least the ones I can get my hands on), but of them all, there's one that stole my heart from the first time I nosed the bottle: Flaming Heart, 2nd Limited Edition.

Flaming Heat, 2nd Limited Edition (FH16MMVII) 2007
Vatted malt whisky: 12-14 yr Caol Ila and Clynelish, with secondary sessile French oak finish.

Color: light gold
Nose: biscuits and salty sea air; caramel, sweet cotton candy.  Coney Island by the sea.
Palette: Rich, soft and lush.  Soft tones of smoke gently fill the mouth.
Finish: Peaty, soft and warm, wood ash, soapstone, billowy milk chocolate rising from the sides; long and full finish, with spice and smoke wafting in and out.
Outcome: one of the most complex finishes I've experienced in a Scotch whisky.  It teases, presents, falls back, rises again in a way that makes it transcendent.  This is where Glaser earns the role of "artist".
